About Us
Serena Yeager founded Expansive Education after observing a need in the populations she serves as a therapist. There truly are not enough affirming therapists to go around and many individuals find themselves educating their therapists about their identities instead of receiving the specialized support they need.
The single graduate course in human sexuality that most therapists receive isn't enough to serve gender diverse, polyamorous, and kink communities with the depth they deserve. We bridge this gap through comprehensive continuing education for mental health professionals and trauma-informed education for individuals seeking personal growth in these areas.
Our sex-positive, kink-affirming approach is grounded in understanding the mind-body connection and the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities. Whether someone is exploring their gender identity, navigating ethical non-monogamy, or seeking BDSM-informed therapy, they deserve professionals who see their authenticity as something to celebrate, not pathologize.
We provide specialized training that transforms well-meaning therapists into truly competent allies, while offering direct support for personal growth that honors the full spectrum of human diversity in gender, sexuality, and relationship structures. Every person deserves healing spaces where they can be completely seen and accepted. We're expanding possibilities for authentic living and thriving in LGBTQ+, polyamorous, and kink communities.
Founder of Expansive Education; Relationship Educator and Trauma Therapist
Serena Yeager is a sex-positive psychotherapist and relationship educator dedicated to helping the LGBTQ+, kink, and non-monogamous communities heal and thrive. This dedication led her to start Expansive Education with dual goals: for community members, providing tools to fill the gaps of traditional therapy and build successful connections with self and others; and for clinicians, bridging the gap between traditional therapeutic training and the specialized knowledge needed to effectively support gender, sexuality, and relationship diverse clients. Serena's trauma-informed, experiential approach helps both clients and clinicians navigate complex identity development, relationship dynamics, and the intersection of sexuality and mental health. She is committed to expanding the network of truly affirming practitioners while fostering direct healing within these communities.
Serena is also the Founder and Lead Therapist of the group private practice, Expansive Counseling.

Relational Therapist & NARM Practitioner
I’m Josh, a relational therapist and NARM practitioner working primarily with LGBTQ+ folks and people in non-traditional relationships. I specialize in complex trauma, shame, and identity development. My work focuses on helping clients shift out of long-held survival strategies and into more integrated, authentic ways of being — especially in how they relate to themselves and others. I work with individuals and partnerships who often feel stuck in patterns of self-neglect, disconnection, or unresolved family dynamics. My approach is deeply relational, non-pathologizing, and rooted in curiosity and compassion.
